After the relocation of the Parliament and the seat of Government to Berlin, the Berliner Zukunftssalon was established in the fall of 1999 in order to provide young professionals from polititics, the economic and scientific community, the media and the arts with a forum for dialogue and networking. Regular encounters, which stand in the tradition of the political salons of the 1920s in Berlin, give room for informative and moderated debates about topics that are relevant to our future.
At the threshold of the 21st century, the Berliner Zukunftssalon sees itself in the tradition of its historic forerunners while still paying heed to the circumstances of a period of change in various ways. The Berliner Zukunftssalon wants to preserve traditions while allowing for the introduction of innovations. In a period of globalization, in which electronic networks are gaining importance, the need for personal contacts should not be underestimated.
In this sense, the Berliner Zukunftssalon functions as a future-oriented network of professionals from the most influental and distinctive fields of our society. The aim of the salon is to further an ongoing dialogue between politics, culture, economy, science and the media, and to talk to and not about each other.
